U.S. National Science Foundation: Plant Genome Research
The National Science Foundation (USA) funds several areas of research to explore grand challenge questions in plants of economic importance on a genome-wide scale in its Plant Genome Research Program.
Especially encouraged are proposals that provide strong and novel training opportunities integral to the research plan and across disciplines that include -- but are not limited to -- plant physiology, quantitative genetics, biochemistry, bioinformatics, and engineering.
The program encourages proposals from investigators and institutions that have not participated before. Proposals are encouraged from early-career investigators. Moreover, funding supports collaboration with developing countries (i.e., Developing Country Collaborations in Plant Genome Research, DCC-PGR).
The NSF provides general guidelines about the program, and links to its staff directory. The next application deadline is 13 March 2013.
