The International Potato Center (CIP) seeks a WordPress Website Developer Consultant for the CGIAR Research Program on Roots, Tubers and Bananas (RTB) to develop a website for the FoodSTART+ project. The position will be remote located. Candidates must be available to commence work on the project by the final week of July, with the website finalized by August 18th, 2017.


The site should be installed as a sub-site on the RTB WordPress installation. The website will be approximately fourteen pages of mostly static content, including one interactive map, a photo gallery that should draw dynamically from a photo repository, and a blog that should update automatically through RSS feeds from the RTB and IFAD Asia websites but also allow for posts to be added in manually. The website will also include a page that can accommodate between 50-80 publications. Content and branding guidelines will be provided.

Technical requirements of the website:

  • The CMS is Multi-site installation of WordPress, hosted in WP Engine
  • Site must be responsive and provide appropriate versions for a variety of screen sizes
  • Dependency on plugins must be kept to a minimum. Paid, supported plugins must be prioritized
  • over free, non-supported ones.
  • Provide rules for site documentation, tags, categories
  • Design different templates for content categories
  • Optimize for low bandwidth audiences


  • Develop a customized website for the FoodSTART+ project using WordPress, as described above.
  • Provide wireframe and draft designs for project team feedback
  • Develop interactive map for the website showing the locations in which the project works
  • Provide a solution for a publications list of approximately 50 publications, that will grow to around 80
  • over time. Publications must be easy to find, and should link out to external database for download.

Selection criteria:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communication technologies or equivalent, preferably with a specialization
  • in web technologies.
  • At least 5 years of experience in web designing, specifically using the CMS WordPress.
  • Advanced written and verbal English level.
