How to Build a Resilient Food System with Shenggen Fan, IFPRI

Shenggen Fan, the Director General of International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) tells Farming First why we urgently need to boost the resilience of our food systems, which he believes have become very vulnerable and volatile.

“Resilience is more than just a buzzword” he commented  “it has real implications for development and policy making.”

Dr. Fan explained how different agencies at a global level on different issues, such as health, food aid and financial systems, whereas the concept of building resilience will link all these sectors together for long term growth.

He empasized that it is “high time” to work together and look at resilience as a new way of doing business and make sure that the post-2015 agenda is focused on people.
