Which workshops have you found the most interesting at the Thought For Food Global Summit 2015?

The one I liked the most was the workshop "Take it to the Farmer," which was presented by Julie Borlaug, Associate Director of External Relations at the Borlaug Institute for International Agriculture and dealt with the pros and cons of GMOs.

What do you get from Thought For Food 2015?

No matter you come from urban or rural societies, there should be more platforms like the TFF at a local level so that people who cannot afford attending this kind of events could participate in the discussions of global issues from home.

How do global meetings like TFF contribute to engage young people in agriculture?

These events are very useful particularly for networking among young people as well as adults who study and work in the agricultural field. For young professionals like me who are planning to be entrepreneurs, it´s great to take part in this summit as it represents a platform for young people to share our knowledge and compete in this case at the TFF Challenge competition. This way when we'll go back home we'll be able to implement different and innovative ideas.

What actions might you take after participating in the TFF?

I am the owner of a company based in Trinidad and Tobago called AgriWorks4U which works towards providing specialized contractual labor for farmers hiring only young professionals. It also deals with extension projects to help farmers to adapt technology and get the services they need for their crops. What I have in mind now is to find more innovative ways to support these farmers though education services.

What is the professional motto you live by?

There's always going to be a need for agriculture, because no matter in which part of the world you are you have to eat. Thus, I believe the only limitations you will ever have are the ones you put on yourself. Even if my professor or my colleagues don´t support my idea, as long as I believe in it I can definitely do it with the help of other professionals.
