Hynek was born on January 26th, 1991, in Prague Czech Republic. His passion for agriculture started at a very early age. As a child he would help his family in their home garden where they would grow vegetables, potatoes and other crops, this experience leads him to pursue a career in agriculture.
In 2013 he graduated at CZU with a Bachelor of Science in Sustainable Development in Tropics and Subtropics, in 2015 he obtained his Master of Science in Sustainable Rural Development in the Tropics and Subtropics. As early as 2018 he finalized his Ph.D. studies and obtained his degree in Sustainable Rural Development in the Tropics and Subtropics. Throughout his studies, he won various awards for his outstanding research work. He was awarded by the Czech Ministry of Agriculture for his excellent Ph.D. research, by the Hlávka Foundation for his contribution to science and by his university (CZU Prague) for the best publication output. His main focus is organic waste management, however, he continues to expand his expertise, either in food security issues or different environmental aspects.

Hynek is currently the Group leader of the Biogas Research Team at CZU Prague, which deals with organic waste management. His experience with sustainable practices, sustainability and organic waste management and renewable energy resources goes back to 2012 where he started with his participation in the project Renewable Energy Resources for Rural Areas in Thua-Thien Hue Province, Vietnam. Since then he participated or coordinated numerous research and development projects throughout the world (i.e. Czechia, Vietnam,
Cambodia, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Georgia, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Armenia and others). He does research in Waste Management, Environment and Ecology and is an editorial board member of several journals. He is the author of over 30 peer-reviewed (indexed) research papers and is also the author of more than 15 international conference contributions.
Hynek is the coordinator of the CZU COVID-19 Response Team and CZU Food Security Research Team (focusing on the implications of COVID-19). Apart from his expertise in the field of sustainability, Dr. Hynek Roubík is coordinating the AgriSciences Platform for Scientific Enhancement of HEIs in Ukraine, where the focus is the enhancement of Ukrainian higher education institutions in key AgriScience areas.
As a young professional just 30 years old he has already published over 30 scientific articles within a range of topics related mainly to biogas, organic waste and waste management in the developing world. He has participated in and coordinated over 20 projects and is now the supervisor or co-supervisor of 2 bachelors, 6 masters and 8 Ph.D. students at CZU Prague.
His latest project is focused on coordinating the CZU mobile laboratory CZU mobiLAB a concept that was developed as a response to the COVID-19 outbreak. The CZU mobiLAB offers a complex solution for the detection of infectious diseases (including COVID-19) in inaccessible areas of developing countries. The first 4 units of CZU mobiLAB have been prepared under a grant from the Czech Development Agency as part of the Czech development cooperation in Ethiopia and Zambia, in cooperation with the humanitarian organization ADRA.
Its safe to say that Hynek is a young professional to keep an eye on. Making such an impact in his field and beyond, his passion and dedication for what he does are commendable!
