At the heart of YPARD as a movement are its members, who are encouraged to become active in their area, spread the news about YPARD to other young professionals, encourage a stronger voice of youth in their own organizations and share their views and ideas with other young professionals in the network. We are thrilled to share with you all the exciting initiatives, events, workshops that have occurred in the past months and the exciting opportunities lined up for the coming year.

The IV Rural School for Young People, as well as the previous ones, is a response to the lack of support provided in the rural areas of Peru, a sector that has been and continues to be made invisible by the state.
YPARD member and communications focal point, Dinesh Pandya, writes about the importance of soil health and the impacts of soil on food security and small-scale farmers.
YPARD was invited to speak at the APEC workshop in early December. The workshop reviewed the state of the food system, food value chain development, challenges, and potential solutions under the shock of the COVID-19 pandemic, recognizing the importance of food security, and the role of informatization as well as women and youth empowerment through capacity building in addressing these challenges.
YPARD in cooperation with Young EUFRAS and as part of the 12th GFRAS Annual Meeting, held the online event “ Importance of Youth Engagement in Extension & Rural Advisory Services” focusing on current issues of rural youth, the importance of extension and advisory services, and how mentorship programs in RAS is a response to this need.
This year, YPARD began having quarterly regional meetings where country representatives from across a region and their regional coordinator to discuss various topics. These meeting will continue in 2022, stay tuned!

This January, YPARD is launching two working groups! One is focused on policy & advocacy and the other will focus on mentorship & capacity building for young professionals. This is a great opportunity to with the global coordinating unit and directly support YPARD's mission.
It is that time of the year where we take the time to reflect on the work that we have done in YPARD in 2021, but also look forward to 2022. Here, your feedback and experience of YPARD in 2021, is very important to us! This survey will help us identify the areas that we are thriving in and areas that need improvement. The survey takes approximately 10 minutes and will remain open until January 31st, 2022.
