The African Climate Change and Environmental Reporting Awards (ACCER Awards) were founded by the Pan African Climate Justice Alliance, comprising 1000+ civil society organizations in 45 African countries. The eight categories of ACCER awards in 2016 aim to sustain high-quality environmental journalism. The competition is open to professional journalists, broadcasters, and documentary filmmakers who are citizens or permanent residents in Africa. Also eligible are citizen journalists in Africa if they have published on blogs for one year or more. The award winners may be offered opportunities for further training and networking. However, there are no cash awards. The application deadline is 26 April 2016.
