Soil degradation is among the greatest obstacles to agricultural development in the tropics. CIAT’s concerted effort to address this problem has progressed over the last decade to become one of the Center’s three key research areas.

Taking forward their original focus on tropical soil biology and fertility (TSBF), they are working at the interface between agriculture and ecology to achieve durable food security, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa, but with a global agenda.

The CGIAR has a new strategy and portfolio of global research programs. CIAT’s soils research is extremely well placed to contribute to these global initiatives. To build momentum in this work, CIAT is recruiting new members for its soils research team.

Take this opportunity to make a difference in the lives of millions of people across the developing world! At the same time, enhance your skills and build an exciting scientific career working in a diverse, multidisciplinary and multicultural environment at fascinating locations.
