Junior Expert (m/f) - Nutrition, Welthungerhilfe

The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with an initial contract duration until June 30, 2019. The place of work will be Dohuk, Iraq (KRI). Taking the security situation into account, travel for work will be required.

Within the project the Junior Expert – Nutrition reports to the Head of Project and supports the general project coordination and gives technical input towards the project in regards to nutrition sensitive programming. Although the main objective of the project is to increase the incomes of the beneficiaries in a sustainable way, good nutrition sensitive programming will provide additional benefits.
 

• Support the Head of Project with the general coordination and implementation of the project
• Provide technical input related to nutrition sensitive programming. This includes taking part in research, strategy development and monitoring and evaluation for nutrition sensitive programming
• Assist national staff in relation to project-specific, technical issues
• Participate in the preparation of regular reports on the implementation status of the project and local developments
• Participate in coordination committees
• Perform preparatory work for visits and visitor support

Your responsibilities

• Support the Head of Project with the general coordination and implementation of the project

Your profile

• A university or polytechnic degree in a relevant subject (health communication, public health promotion, nutrition, health or behavioral sciences)
• Ideally 1-3 years of professional experience in Middle East or other less developed regions; specifically focussing on nutrition, health promotion, nutrition, water, sanitation, and hygiene or similar programs in developing county contexts
• Coordination and organisational skills, including ability to work under pressure
• Ability to work in a multinational environment
• A "can do" mentality and good sense of humor
• Excellent communication skills and intercultural sensibility
• A high level of mental and physical resilience and readiness to travel to areas with volatile local conditions
• A very good level of written and spoken English, good knowledge of Arabic/Kurdish/German is desirable
