Rare aims to build the capacity of conservation leaders in developing countries to change human behaviors that are destructive to the environment. Rare does this by choosing local implementing partners that lead “pride campaigns” to inspire communities to take pride in their natural heritage, and to work towards conservation solutions that do not sacrifice other needs. Rare currently manages programs in China, the Philippines, Indonesia, Micronesia, Mozambique, and Latin America.
