Be YPARD's Observer in the Segment of the First Global Meeting of National Focal Points to the Montevideo Programme V

Are you interested in and/or studying environmental law?

There is an opportunity to observe the In-person/hybrid Segment of the First Global Meeting of National Focal Points to the Montevideo Programme V  that will focus on the Development and Periodic Review of Environmental Law (Montevideo Environmental Law Programme V). And we want you to represent YPARD in this event!

This segment will form the second part of the First Global Meeting after the first segment that was held online from 2 to 4 June 2021.

The in-person/hybrid segment will be held over four days from Monday, 6 June 2022 to Thursday, 9 June 2022 (15:00–17:00 East Africa Time each day) at the United Nations Environment Programme in Nairobi, Kenya, with online participation also possible for those who cannot attend the meeting in person.

Interpretation in all six United Nations languages will be provided. Side events will be held from 11:00 to 13:00 each day (in-person, online, or
hybrid format), covering thematic areas relevant to the First Global Meeting.

The purpose of the in-person/hybrid segment is to enable national focal points to provide guidance on the priority areas for implementation of the programme until December 2029. National focal points will also be invited to discuss the progress on the initial implementation of the programme and other matters.

Additional relevant meeting documentation will be made available to registered participants.

Please note that in view of the exceptional circumstances associated with the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, the in-person participation to the meeting will be subject to general and specific guidance and meeting restrictions, taking into account the COVID-19 restrictions put in place by the host country, Kenya, as well as the guidance developed with the support of the United Nations Office at Nairobi. These restrictions include guidance on mandatory COVID-19 vaccination, physical distancing, and the use of face marks. A detailed information note will be made available to participants closer to the dates of meeting.

If you are not able to travel to Kenya, a meeting link will be sent, together with supporting instructions for its effective use.
