Chief of Party – Bangladesh Feed the Future

Abt Associates, a major American research, technical assistance, and international development company, seeks highly qualified candidates for the upcoming USAID-funded Bangladesh Feed the Future activity. This activity will focus on improved household dietary diversity and reduced childhood stunting, along with improved access and the adoption of improved sanitation practices. The activity interventions will be layered within a broad array of Feed the Future and Food for Peace agriculture activities, building on and scaling up previously successful nutrition pilot activities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Chief of Party is responsible for overseeing the implementation of project activities, management of project staff, and coordination with partner organizations. S/he will establish and maintain systems for project operations; coordinate and maintain working relationships with project stakeholders (including ministries, high-level government officials, private sector partners); manage local implementation teams, and collaborate with local partners to improve government capacity. This may include, but is not limited to the following:

Manage country-level project operations and assist in the development of annual planning and timely, high quality implementation of activities and deliverables
Serve as lead technical advisor providing guidance and oversight to technical staff as needed
Oversee the country office and supervise a multi-disciplinary team of experts
Manage the country office budget and ensure the submission of timely and accurate program, financial, and procurement reports
Establish and maintain strong relationships with USAID and local counterparts to ensure effective coordination of project activities with relevant ministries and agencies, civil society and private sector organizations, international donor institutions, various project stakeholders, and other USAID and U.S. government-funded initiatives
Managing national-level monitoring and evaluation of project implementation and deliverables
QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum of 8-10 years progressively responsible experience in the nutrition, agriculture, or WASH sectors
Minimum of 5 years of demonstrated supervisory experience, with at least 2 years’ experience managing or implementing nutrition, agriculture or WASH projects
Demonstrated experience managing USAID-funded projects required. Experience managing or implementing Feed the Future, Food for Peace or other USAID-funded agriculture and nutrition projects strongly preferred
Demonstrated experience in adaptive management and program design; existing familiarity with the USAID program cycle strongly preferred
Excellent written and oral communication skills in English required; fluency in Bengali strongly preferred
Demonstrated understanding of social, economic, legislative, environmental, and cultural context of Bangladesh. Experience living or working in Bangladesh strongly preferred
University degree in a relevant field required. Advanced degree preferred
