Duties and responsibilities
The primary objective of the Intern is to report quality journalism about the global youth climate change movement and broader sustainable landscapes activities, to be published on the GLF online news publication, Landscape News.
The ideal candidate should be a person eager to gain bylines and career-building experience in journalism, with a willingness to work closely with the Landscape News editor on developing pitching, reporting, writing and editing skills. Tasks and responsibilities will include:
- Writing engaging Landscape News articles about the global youths role in climate change and sustainable landscapes, 1 story per month;
- Developing ideas for the articles and pitching them to the GLF Landscape News editor;
- Reporting stories through in-depth research and interviews;
- Working closely with the Landscape News editor to hone writing and editing skills;
- Sourcing photos and visuals for articles, with opportunities to work with graphic designers and video/photo editors;
- Collaborating with the GLF Youth Coordinator to promote articles through the GLFs global youth network and to explore potential stories within the YIL network.
Education, knowledge and experience
- Minimum education: In the last year of undergraduate studies (international development, natural science, communication, journalism or related fields), recent graduates preferred
- Excellent English writing skills
- Experience with social media, journalism, brand management and online engagement a plus
- Experience with WordPress a plus
- A strong foundation in writing and previously published articles is preferable but not mandatory
- Clear and confident communication skills
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Experienced and/or comfortable with remote work

Terms and conditions
- This is an internship opportunity for 6 months.
- CIFORs employment conditions follow local labour laws and regulations. CIFOR will employ a suitable candidate regardless of nationality, provided that he/she complies with the local requirements for working at the posting location. Being a citizen of an EU country is preferred.
- The duty station will be in Bonn, Germany, but with the ability to work remotely.
