The Thematic Working Group on Rural Youth Employment (TWG RYE) of the Global Donor Platform for Rural Development is pleased to invite you to the webinar “Jobs for Youth in the Agrifood Sector: Leveraging Micro and Small Enterprises” on Monday 4 November, 15:00-16:30 CET.
With Africa’s rapidly growing youth population, creating sustainable jobs has become a key priority in development cooperation. Development projects are increasingly adopting comprehensive and integrated approaches to youth employment for both urban and rural areas. Many projects tap into the opportunities in agrifood economies to create wage and self-employed jobs, promote entrepreneurship and skills development and help young people find their best match in different segments of the agrifood value chain.
The webinar, organized by the Thematic Working Group on Rural Youth Employment (TWG RYE), will showcase experiences from two large projects that aimed at promoting more and better jobs for youth in the broader agrifood system in Africa. Lessons learned and proven tools to support agripreneurs and micro and small enterprises, particularly in the downstream activities (processing and trading) of the agrifood sector, will be the main focus. The panel will also discuss the role of different stakeholders in ensuring a youth-inclusive food system transformation.
