Theme

"Can school gardening achieve a sustainable food system or Is it only a tool for agroecology education?"

School gardens have become powerful learning spaces that introduce young people to food production, nutrition, biodiversity, environmental stewardship, and sustainable agriculture. But can they go beyond education to become catalysts for sustainable food systems?

The 3rd WYNA Global Café will bring together educators, youth leaders, agroecology practitioners, researchers, WYNA Fellows, and organizations from different regions to exchange experiences and discuss how school gardening can strengthen food security, improve nutrition, preserve indigenous knowledge, and build resilient communities.

Participants will explore both the opportunities and limitations of school gardening while sharing practical lessons and innovative approaches from Africa and beyond.
