No Safe Future without Safe Food: Youth at the Centre of Food Safety

International Youth Day (IYD), celebrated every year on 12 August, serves as a global platform to raise awareness of the challenges and opportunities young people face, while recognizing and amplifying their contributions to sustainable development.

In 2025, under the theme “Local Youth Actions for the SDGs and beyond”, IYD emphasizes the importance of local actions driven by youth to advance the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with a special focus on their inclusion in governance and decision-making.

In alignment with this year’s theme, YPARD is organizing the webinar titled No Safe Future without Safe Food: Youth at the Centre of Food Safety.

Through this youth-led webinar, will spotlight food safety as a key issue affecting youths’ well-being, productivity, and potential. Unsafe food undermines SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), and SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), among others. Food safety best practices can also promote desirable outcomes like the reduction of food loss and waste.

YPARD strongly believes that “there can be no true youth celebration when when our food in unsafe.” This event will center youth voices, experiences, and innovations in food safety across different food systems.

- Keynote on Food Safety
- Youth interventions and local actions on driving food safety: Panel discussion
