World Food Day,observed annually on October 16th, is an opportunity to reflect on globalhunger, food security, and sustainable agricultural practices. This year’stheme, “Right to Foods for a Better Life and a Better Future,” emphasizes thefundamental right of every individual to access nutritious food and thenecessity to ensure sustainable food systems for a healthier and more securefuture. YPARD Kenya, as part of its mission to empower young professionals inagricultural development, will use this platform to raise awareness on foodsecurity issues, promote innovative agricultural solutions, and encouragecollaboration among stakeholders in Kenya’s agrifood sector.
Our event willengage participants through dynamic activities including a farm tour, aworkshop, an exhibition, and a networking session, all aimed at building thecapacities of young professionals and enhancing collaboration among key actorsin Kenya’s agricultural value chains.
Objectives:
- Raise awareness on the importance of sustainable food systems and the right to food.
- Showcase innovative agricultural practices and solutions through exhibitions.
- Provide a platform for young professionals to network and share knowledge on food security.
- Highlight the role of youth in transforming agriculture in Kenya.
- Foster collaboration among farmers, agripreneurs, and key stakeholders in the agrifood sector.

Planned Activities:
i. Farm Tour:
- Time: 11:00 AM – 11:30 AM
- Participants will tour Emily Dacha’s farm to observe sustainable climate smart farming practices, and agribusiness models.
ii. Workshop:
- Time: 11:30 AM – 12:30 PM
- The workshop will feature expert speakers on topics such as local food systems, food systems leadership, technology and innovation, and policy.
This session will include interactive discussions and Q&A opportunities.
iii. Exhibition:
- Time: 12:30 PM – 1:30 PM
- Exhibitors will showcase products and services related to sustainable agriculture and agribusiness solutions. Participants will explore innovations and form partnerships in agriculture value chains.
iv. NetworkingSession:
- Time: 1:30 PM – 2:00 PM
- The networking session will enable participants to connect, exchange ideas, and explore potential collaborations in food systems and agribusiness.
