MGCY Food and Agriculture : Constituencies Collective on Food Systems Advocacy
March 10, 2025
We are delighted to announce collaboration between diverse food-related youth constituencies through the mandate of the MGCY Food Systems (Zero Hunger) Working Group. This initiative is dedicated to uniting efforts on meaningful youth engagement in food, agriculture, and interconnected environmental issues, to drive collective advocacy in key international policy spaces throughout 2025 and beyond. The growing list of members of this collective include YOUNGO Food and Agriculture WG, UNCCD Youth Caucus, Global Youth Biodiversity Network (GYBN), MGCY Global Youth Caucus on SDG16, Chemicals and Waste Youth Platform, the Youth Representatives to the SENA Group of the UN Food Systems Coordination Hub, Young Professionals for Agricultural Development (YPARD).
As the demand for a unified youth voice continues to grow, this partnership will enhance advocacy for sustainable food systems, biodiversity conservation, and land and climate action. By working together, we strive to:
Amplify youth voices in global decision-making spaces;
Break down silos between constituencies and conventions;
Develop coherent policy positions across critical international platforms.
We believe coordination between political fora, including the Rio Conventions and beyond, will enhance our impact and foster a united front, particularly around SDG2 and other interconnected Goals.
Our Collaborative Approach
Joint Position Paper – A collaborative document incorporating the voices and perspectives of youth from all constituencies;
Regular Coordination – Monthly meetings, shared communication channels, feedback loops and a dedicated channel for consistent updates;
Strategic Policy Engagements – Joint advocacy across thematics and issue areas through key messaging at high-level policy fora, including the UNFSS StockTaking moment, CFS, FAO General Meeting, International UN days ECOSOC & COP30;
Knowledge Sharing Platform – A space for exchanging ideas, supporting grant applications, and developing collaborative submissions.
Join the movement as we are committed to fostering meaningful collaboration, ensuring transparency, and meaningfully elevating youth voices in global policy dialogues.
