It is a huge pleasure to welcome Ajuna Tadeo to the YPARD Steering Committee.

The YPARD Steering Committee (SC) plays a crucial role in shaping the global growth and impact of the organization. It provides strategic guidance on YPARD’s orientation, administration, budgets, and programming. With representatives from diverse backgrounds, the SC ensures inclusiveness and brings a variety of perspectives to the table, enabling YPARD to address the dynamic challenges in agriculture and food systems effectively. As a new member of this body, Tadeo will help steer YPARD’s initiatives toward greater inclusivity, innovation, and sustainability.

Tadeo brings a wealth of experience to his new role. He currently serves as the YPARD-Uganda Co-Country Representative and YPARD-UNCCD focal person, where he has been instrumental in fostering youth engagement and sustainable agricultural practices. Professionally, he works as the Platforms/Value Chains/Food Systems Development Officer at the Uganda Agribusiness Alliance. In this role, he leads initiatives to enhance market efficiency, ensure sustainability, and promote equitable revenue distribution across value chains, while coordinating Multistakeholder Platforms to address pressing agricultural challenges.

As the coordinator of the Youth4Agribusiness initiative, Tadeo has designed and implemented training programs that inspire and equip young entrepreneurs to innovate in agribusiness, further energizing Uganda’s agricultural sector.

A certified Trainer of Trainers (TOT) in Agroecology, Tadeo combines technical expertise with a passion for community impact. His certifications in Global G.A.P farm assurance, project management, financial literacy, and digital marketing highlight his comprehensive approach to fostering resilience in agriculture. Beyond this, he is one of the directors of the Food Safety Coalition of Uganda, which unites over 20 civil society organizations advocating for food safety and sustainability in Uganda.

As an active member of the UNCCD Youth Caucus and a 2022 International Monetary Fund Fellow, Tadeo has been a vocal advocate for climate justice. He has spearheaded reforestation campaigns and global efforts to combat climate injustice, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to addressing the environmental challenges facing the agricultural sector.

As a YPARD Steering Committee member, Tadeo aims to bring strategic leadership, innovative ideas, and a global perspective to further YPARD’s mission of empowering young professionals in agriculture. Leveraging his expertise in market linkages and Global G.A.P standards, Tadeo will strengthen capacity-building initiatives, foster impactful partnerships, and advocate for youth-focused policies. Through his dedication to promoting inclusivity, mentoring emerging leaders, and engaging regional stakeholders, Tadeo is set to contribute to transformative strategies and initiatives that inspire and support the next generation of agricultural leaders.

We warmly congratulate Ajuna Tadeo on this well-deserved appointment and look forward to the transformative impact he will bring to YPARD and the wider agricultural community.
