We are pleased to welcome Upendra Bhusal, YPARD Nepal's new Country Representative!
Upendra is an undergraduate student at Agriculture and Forestry University (AFU) in Rampur, Chitwan, Nepal, where he is establishing a strong academic foundation in agricultural sciences. His academic journey has afforded him a comprehensive understanding of agricultural challenges and opportunities, with a particular focus on plant pathology.
Upendra is currently engaged in hands-on research as a Research Intern at Nepal Plant Disease and Agro Associates (NPDA). In this capacity, he collaborates with experts on plant pathology and agro-science projects, significantly contributing to advancements in plant health and agricultural practices. His dedication to plant health is further reflected in his thesis research on "Evaluation of Chilli Genotypes and Native Trichoderma Isolates against Fusarium Wilt (Fusarium Solani) in Chilli."
His involvement with the International Association of Students in Agricultural and Related Sciences (IAAS) has been extensive and impactful. As Vice President of Finance, Quality Board Member of Research and Planning, and General Member, Upendra has been a key player in global discussions, event organization, and project leadership. His roles have enabled him to address crucial issues in agriculture and food systems, demonstrating his commitment to these fields. Having said that, Upendra's journey with IAAS World has been marked by significant contributions. He served as a Global Graphics Designer and Internal Communicator, designing promotional materials and enhancing international outreach. Additionally, as an Expansion Researcher, he worked on extending IAAS National Committees and preparing project booklets. His role as Chief Editor for the Global Project Report involved compiling and editing reports on various projects conducted by IAAS National Committees, showcasing his ability to manage and present comprehensive data.
In his roles at the Food and Agriculture Youth Institute (FAYI) as Policy and Communication Director and Head of the Plant Health Think Tank, Upendra has organized significant workshops, symposia, and conferences. His efforts advocate for impactful policies and sustainable agricultural practices, while his leadership in the Plant Health Think Tank involves research, collaboration, and international conference organization, providing him with valuable insights into global plant health challenges and strategies.
Upendra is eager to contribute to the YPARD mission and is committed to advancing youth engagement in agriculture and rural development. He is enthusiastic about leveraging his expertise and experiences to further the goals of YPARD and support the broader agricultural community.
