The Inter-American Institute for Cooperation in Agriculture (IICA) is a specialized institute of the Organization of American States. Canada has been a member since 1972.

IICA has 34 offices in the Americas and has maintained an office in Canada for close to 30 years. The primary mission of the Canada office is to promote mutually beneficial initiatives between Canadians with other member countries in Latin America and the Caribbean.

IIM Ahmedabad and several partners announce India's first water accelerator program. The aim is to highlight the country's best ideas for water treatment; supply and sanitation; irrigation; IT-enabled water management; and water monitoring and evaluation. The winners can seek pilot finding up to 15 lakhs from the government of Rajasthan to implement their solutions in the field. The deadline for applications is 26 July 2015.

LANSA (Leveraging Agriculture for Nutrition in South Asia) addresses how South Asian agriculture and related food policies and interventions can be designed and implemented to increase their impacts on nutrition, especially the nutritional status of children and adolescent girls. The program countries are Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, and Pakistan. LANSA currently invites proposals of new and innovative interventions in any area of agriculture for nutrition, and/or to test the feasibility of scaling-up such innovations. LANSA is particularly interested in interventions that recognize ongoing environmental changes, such as in relation to water scarcity and climate. Expected budgets will range from £50 thousand to £70 thousand per study.

The EC will make grants to improve rice production by smallholder farmers in Guinea-Bissau. Eligibility for funding extends to nonprofit non-state organizations in the EU and its candidate countries; the European Economic Area; the ACP countries (including Guinea-Bissau); and qualifying international organizations. The British Council in the MENA region offers grants in its Institutional s program to support the Global Water Challenge. Subject areas are irrigation; water purification; groundwater studies; sanitation; biological and physico-chemical water and wastewater treatment; food security; education; monitoring; and climate change adaptation as it pertains to water resources. Applications are made on a trilateral basis between organisations in the UK, Israel, and an eligible country from the British Council MENA region. Grants will range from £50 thousand to £100 thousand for projects of 10-12 months. The deadline for submissions is 28 September 2015.

The Seabird Group supports research, survey, and conservation of seabirds. It awards small grants each year, with priority to Seabird Group members working on Atlantic seabirds. The current maximum grant is usually £500 per project. Applications should be submitted before the end of February and the end of October.

The Leapfrog Conservation Fund supports the creation of new reserves and the expansion of existing reserves for important amphibian habitat in tropical regions. The priority is habitat supporting endangered and critically endangered amphibian species. Proposals must demonstrate how the proposed actions will be implemented locally, and how the protected area will be managed over the long-term. Applications are invited from not-for-profit entities and NGOs in the country where the project is located. There is no limit on the amount of grant requests, and no application deadline.

The ASA offers seed grants to help start projects or encourage innovative approaches to address conservation, research, and education related to amphibians. Priority is for threatened, endangered, and critically endangered amphibian species worldwide. Seed grants normally range from US$500 to US$1000. Applications are accepted and reviewed all year.

Esri is an international supplier of Geographic Information System (GIS) software, web GIS, and geodatabase management applications. Esri offers free or discounted GIS software, hardware, data, training, and services to support groups and individuals working for social and environmental benefit. Esri's Conservation Grant Program makes GIS grants to non-profit organizations, programs, and individuals active in public service and nature conservation in any country. There are no grant cycles or deadlines.

The West Africa Integrated Production and Pest Management (IPPM) programme team at the FAO (agricultural production and protection division) is looking for an intern to compile a database on historical training data for Farmer Field School programmes across Western Africa.

In addition, the intern will support the team in analyzing and interpreting impact data from current project activities.

This is a two year term position requiring 100% full-time effort with the possibility of extension pending available funding and performance.

The Charles H. Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management (AEM) is a large and diverse school within the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. It is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate School of Business (AACSB), the international accrediting body for business programs. It includes 47 professorial academics, four incoming professorial academics; 11 non-professorial academics, one incoming non-professorial academic that are internationally known scholars with training in the fields of applied economics and management science.  The Dyson community also includes 700 undergraduates, 230 undergraduate minors, 100 graduate students, and 38 members of the professional and support staff.  AEM is integrally involved in major research and extension outreach programs.

This position will require frequent contact with personnel in and outside the university to coordinate and execute research and outreach projects.  Must be able to work quickly and effectively under pressure, display excellent data management and analysis skills, effectively supervise student researchers, use good judgement in accomplishing tasks that are urgent or of a sensitive or confidential nature, and make decisions from a range of choices. Must meet important deadlines that may have an impact on the University’s and the Tata-Cornell initiative’s reputation.

The research requires very strong technical skills in analytical and empirical research, to include managing, cleaning and analyzing large data sets (for example, national, regional, and district level and household data sets), strong written and oral communications skills for drafting papers for peer-reviewed publication, presenting results at professional events, as well as excellent organization skills to plan and coordinate research activities in a collaborative environment.  This academic member will spend roughly three-quarters time on writing and research activities, with the remainder spent on outreach and general management support functions.  Ability and willingness to travel internationally and conduct field-based research is required.
