FARA is the continental apex body for agricultural research and innovation in Africa. Its mission is to contribute to generating high, broad-based and sustainable agricultural growth by catalyzing improvements to the productivity and competitiveness of the sector through increased and effective application of Science, Technology and Innovation (STI). FARA executes its mission by performing the following four functions: (i) advocacy for increased application of STI in agriculture which is a necessary condition for achieving national and continental development goals; (ii) strengthening the human, institutional and systemic capacities for agricultural innovation; (iii) facilitating the exchange of information and knowledge in STI for agriculture; and (iv) facilitating partnerships among research, innovation and agribusiness actors within Africa as well as between Africa and external regional or national entities. The Secretariat of FARA is based in Accra, Ghana. FARA is serving as one of the Implementing centres of the Technologies for African Agricultural Transformation (TAAT) project supported by the African Development Bank.

Technologies for African Agricultural Transformation (TAAT) supports the Feed Africa by providing needed, proven agricultural and food processing technologies and implementation strategies for inclusion within the Bank’s loans to Regional Member Countries. TAAT’s approaches revitalize and transform agriculture within the shortest possible time while restoring degraded land and maintaining or strengthening the ecosystems that underpin agriculture while modernizing and more fully commercializing agriculture. FARA has been mandated to coordinate capacity development technology Outreach (CDTO) within TAAT. To coordinate the activities driven by FARA under TAAT, the organization is seeking to hire an Expert in Agribusiness.

The Innovative Veterinary Solutions for Antimicrobial Resistance (InnoVet-AMR) is a four-year, CA$27.9-million partnership between Canada’s International Development Research Centre and the United Kingdom’s Department of Health and Social Care.

This program aims to support research that will identify innovative veterinary solutions, including vaccines, to reduce the use of antimicrobials in livestock and aquaculture operations in Low and Middle Income Countries (LMIC) and build effective partnerships to better coordinate discovery, development and sustainable delivery of veterinary solutions to reduce the use of antimicrobials in livestock and aquaculture operation in LMICs.

After a successful end of term for the South Africa representative, Obert Mathiva, YPARD is looking for a passionate and dedicated young professional to take up the position of YPARD representative in South Africa.

To meet its goals, YPARD works with young professionals on a regional, national or local level to undertake activities at a more geographically appropriate level. To guide the operationalization of the Resilience Livelihoods Framework in the lab countries, and ensure that VSO is learning from its own work and good practice in the sector.

The Forest Trust (TFT) is an international non-profit organization that helps international retail and manufacturing companies to source responsibly-produced products, meaning products that respect the environment and improve people’s lives. Since 1999,

TFT’s main focus has been to provide solutions to the issues of deforestation and the empowerment of forest-dependent communities through market-based incentives.

YPARD Nepal is a chapter of YPARD which is supported by YPARD Asia and Pacific Coordination Unit and YPARD Global Coordination Unit. Since its establishment in 2012, YPARD Nepal has been continuously striving for youth-led agricultural activities in the country through various programs. 

Currently, YPARD Nepal working team consists of a country representative and 13 local representatives- all young professionals are from agricultural universities, research institutes, farming, and development sectors. Storytelling contest for youth agri-entrepreneurship and YPARD student research symposium were our major events in the recent year.

The Program Coordinator will be responsible for the entire GICEP coordination at Gwassi level and supervision of the SMEs integrated in HACA programs. The Program Coordinator will provide the requisite HACA representation at Gwassi level in addition to the day to day coordination of the partnership. S/he will also be responsible for the convening of the quarterly Multi Stakeholder Platform and the Gwassi level Program Steering Committee.

The International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT) – a member of the CGIAR Consortium (www.cgiar.org) – develops technologies, innovative methods, and new knowledge that better enable farmers, especially smallholders, to make agriculture competitive and profitable as well as sustainable and resilient. CIAT conducts research for development in tropical regions of Latin America, Africa, and Asia (www.ciat.cgiar.org).

CIAT Africa currently works on four key themes: 1) Leveraging markets through improved productivity and competitiveness, 2) Agriculture for improved nutrition and health, 3) Transforming farms and landscapes for sustainability and, 4) Investment planning for resilient agriculture. The Nepal chapter of Young Professionals for Agricultural Development (YPARD) is seeking a new Country Representative (CR) from January 2018 to carry out the objective of YPARD and coordinate the activities of the network. Since 2012, it is working on boosting youth's participation in agriculture, food and environmental issues in Nepal.

The YPARD Nepal’s current national working group includes a country representative and 13 local representatives: all young professionals from agricultural universities, research institutions, development sectors and farming communities. The prestigious Borlaug-Ruan international internship provides high school students an all-expenses-paid, eight-week hands-on experience, working with world-renowned scientists and policymakers at leading research centers around the globe.

Over the past 19 years, The World Food Prize has sent nearly 300 students on Borlaug-Ruan International Internships at 34 of the top agricultural research centers and institutions around the world in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East, including: Bangladesh, Brazil, China, Costa Rica, Egypt, Ethiopia, Guatemala, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Malaysia, Mexico, Nepal, Peru, Philippines, Taiwan, Tanzania, Thailand, Trinidad and Tobago, and Turkey.

In advancing agriculture for a sustainable future through mentorship, YPARD Nigeria as the Capacity Development Partner of the Grooming Leaders for Agriculture (GLA) Program calls on successful, experienced and senior professionals in various fields of agriculture and life sciences to volunteer as mentors for a year.
