Post graduate degree in agricultural science or other related science discipline with relevance to agriculture and food. Knowledge and skills in IT and ICM/ knowledge management will be an advantage. Fluent in written and spoken English or French and ability to work in the other language (compulsory). Nationals of either European Union member state or of one of the Africa, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) group of states.

Under the supervision of the Senior Programme Coordinator, Science and Technology (S&T) Policy in the Policies, Markets and ICTs (PMI) Programme, the intern shall provide services in support of ongoing project related activities. Special emphasis will be on supporting the follow-up of the 2012-2013 3rd African Wide Women and Young Professionals in Science Competitions, on-going projects on food security, postharvest knowledge systems, innovation systems and tertiary education, the Knowledge for Development website (http://knowledge.cta.int).

The Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security (CCAFS) Program is a collaborative endeavor between the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR) and the Earth System Science Partnership (ESSP), research communities, and their respective partners. CCAFS Program seeks to overcome the additional threats posed by a changing climate to achieving food security, enhancing livelihoods and improving environmental management in the developing world. The program is structured around four closely inter-linked global research themes: Adaptation to Progressive Climate Change; Adaptation through Managing Climate Risk; Pro-poor Climate Change Mitigation; and Integration for Decision Making. The global theme activities are implemented through regions.

The Young Professionals in Local Development (YPLD) network is envisaged as being a know-how transfer platform between young and experienced professionals in all fields of expertise that relate to international and local development.

CTA provides support to Agricultural and rural development activities across the Africa Caribbean and Pacific regions through supporting Information, Communication and Knowledge management initiatives. To better focus our interventions they are developing a capacity building project with a team of two.

This team works within the Knowledge Management and Communication Program to support and develop the CTA ICKM capacity strengthening activities with partners. The Intern will work under the guidance of the project Team Leader (acting as mentor) and in collaboration with the other Team Member.

The Center for International Forestry Research advances human wellbeing, environmental conservation and equity by conducting research to inform policies and practices that affect forests in developing countries.
